Interest in online video or OTT (Over the Top Television) is a sign of the times at the 85+ year old global electronic media trade show and conference, for broadcasters, digital media and entertainment, NAB Show 2011.

The show held at the Las Vegas Convention Centre on April 11-14 each year traditionally attracts major broadcasters like FOXTEL and the ABC from Australia, Star Hong Kong, Century Fox, Apple and CBS.

This year more technology providers, like online video platform provider Switch Media, were in evidence, showcasing their ability to manage, distribute and secure online broadcast content.

Switch Media was invited to co-exhibit by Media Asset Management (MAM) System provider Dalet.  Switch Media supplied a complimentary technology that enable broadcasters to deliver to multiple devices via the internet.

Switch Media CEO, Christopher Stenhouse says that making content available to multiple devices is a hot topic and raises questions about content protection, seemless delivery, and the analytics to determine how the programs are being watched.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Dalet.  Our product offerings are extremely complementary; Dalet enables the broadcaster to manage its content within its network.  Switch Media delivers this content to PCs, Macs, mobile devices and connected TVs “

The NAB Show held over 500 conference sessions with highlighted keynotes on issues effecting online broadcast topics covered included: transmission formats, ultra violet security systems, advertising opportunities in mobile environments, broadband plans and Cloud.

NAB 2011 recorded an increase in attendance by four percent up from last year with registered attendance at more than 92,000.
