Switch Media has announced its partnership with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for the provisioning of content for the ABC’s internet TV service, iView. Under the agreement, Switch Media captures, encodes, and publishes ABC daily broadcast content for online viewing shortly after the programmes go to air.
“We are delighted to be an integral part of iView, a service which we believe sets a new standard for internet television in Australia”, said Christopher Stenhouse, CEO of Switch Media. “We feel that the ABC’s need for high-resolution encodings of their programmes – delivered soon after they air – marries perfectly with our services in online video distribution and management.”
Ian Carroll, the ABC’s Director of Innovation, said, “By using Switch Media, the ABC has been able to simplify and speed up the process for delivering content via iView. Because we can rely on them to provide a significant amount of the content for the News, Catch-Up, and Arts channels, we are able to focus our attention on making iView a compelling program experience for Australians.”
